Looks like we have our first full day of winter here in the Shuswap (see my stories). But I’m not done with Autumn yet!! Here’s another from a beautiful stand of submerged aspens I had the good fortune to photograph recently!

Winter arrived unexpectedly in the Shuswap yesterday! We still have lots of Autumn foliage under the snow! My furry sidekick was definitely happy for the drop in temperature....winter is his favourite season 🌨 One from our walk yesterday!

The Fall colours in the Shuswap are muted this year (or so they appear to be to me). Not sure if this is because of all the rainfall we’ve had this Fall?) An afternoon hike with @janis_smith_photography led us to this spot where we had a great view over the valley & a rain storm that was passing through the town of Chase beyond. Needless to say, we got wet soon after when it moved in our direction! ☔️

Wind was a major factor at this spot! For this image I had to combine a slower shutter speed to try to smooth out the rippled water, with a faster one for the foliage & top sections of the moving tree! On my second visit here, many of the leaves were off the trees so it was slim pickings to still find some decent colour, the bright tree behind helped with adding vibrancy to this frame!

I just edited this one from a pastel sunrise in January in the Canadian Rockies! This image was focus stacked to make sure the ice bubble formation in the foreground, as well as the distant mountains were in sharp focus. Focus stacking with the 14-30 F4 S lens is fabulous, as there is so little focus breathing (the change in focal length that happens when you adjust the focusing distance of a lens). @danibanff & I have one spot left on our Winter Magic in the Canadian Rockies tour if you would like to join us! Jan 10-14 2021. I’ll put a swipe up link in my stories!

This season’s Fall colours are definitely more muted so far than last years. I wonder if it’s to do with the heat & lack of rain this year? I enjoyed a few days at this spot this week & bumped into quite a few other photographers checking out the trees. As always, wind made things challenging to shoot but it was possible to grab a few shots between gusts.
